Another great day this time at Coalville and with a repeat of last week, again the weather was kind to us, especially with what we saw yesterday!!
Between the 2 teams we won every game we played and topped our two groups against at times some tough and aggressive opposition. We kept our composure throughout and won our matches largely convincingly.
The only defeat we had was when our 2 sides had to play each other in the Cup Semi Final. We did ask Coalville if they could swap the semis round in the hope that we could get both teams through to the Final but they declined.
The game they played was the match of the morning as the boys battled it out in a fully committed game which ended 5-4 with Joe scoring the winning try with the last play of the game.
And so to the final which kicked off late, very late in fact, at a around 2.30, so the boys were pretty keen to get stuck in having been stood around for nearly an hour after the bruising encounter with their squad mates. When Rotherham finally decided to show their faces the first thing their coach asked of us was "are you playing first to four clear tries"? Of course, we said "no, we've been playing the full 12 minutes" following which their coach was heard telling his boys "you'll have to play the full 12 minutes in this game lads"! Anyway, the game kicked off and after 12 minutes of what can only be described as an almost perfect display of U10s rugby the boys had scored 3 tries and conceded none!! Following further accolades on their display and presentation of a magnificent trophy from a senior Coalville official we all went home very happy.
As coaches, we cant speak highly enough of the way all the boys acquitted themselves throughout the day - well done guys - you were all awesome!
Thank you again as well to everybody who travelled to Coalville to support the boys - they did you proud!
